Surface Impact Testing
Surface Attenuation or Surface Impact testing checks how well playground surfaces absorb shocks. It measures the force a child would feel if they fell from a height of over 600mm above the ground. A weighted device is dropped on the surface from a set height, and the impact is recorded.
This helps confirm if the surfaces meet safety regulations as defined in the Australian Playground Standard AS4422 and ensures playground surfacing stays compliant to help reduce injuries.
